Re: Assignments from the WAG textbook--Follow book directions unless otherwise indicated.  Credit is earned for 1) completing the assignment 2)  following directions (look for multiple steps)  3) giving quality effort.

Re: Assignments from Elements of Literature (EOL)--Students will be reading The Pearl by John Steinbeck from this textbook  in class (accompanied by a tape) over the next few weeks.  However, students may purchase their own paperbacks of this short novel if they wish to keep a copy with them.  If a student is absent, he or she may check out a textbook overnight.  It is very important that the student keep up with the assigned reading and activities.


Week of May 5

Mon.--VW Ch. 13-15 Test; review/tally The Pearl Ch. 3 and 4 quiz; review The Pearl Vocabulary Ch. 5 and 6;  in class read/discuss The Pearl Ch. 5
Assign: Students should be reviewing the VW workbook Ch. 1-15 re: Exam

Tues.--(Algebra End-of-Course Test 8:30-10:30) in class complete The Pearl Ch. 5; begin Ch. 6 (through p. 706)
Please note: If a student misses my class due to the Algebra testing, he or she may come on study hall if I have an English 8 that period; otherwise, check out a book and read the missed assignment

Wed.--In class read/discuss The Pearl Ch. 6
Assign: Study The Pearl Vocabulary Ch. 5 and 6

Thurs.--The Pearl Ch. 5 and 6 quiz; end-of-book discussion (including the symbolism of the pearl)

Fri.--(Physical Science End-of-Course Test 8:30-10:30)--in class issue/discuss EXAM Review Sheet
Assign:  VW  Final Mastery Test (Honor Code/independent work) due Monday, May 12
WAG Worksheet due Tuesday, May 13
