Senior Humanities - Modern History Course

Week of April 29- May 2- Nothing But Nets will end this Wed. April 30 
Senior Week - Happy Graduation

Reminders - Bring in journals - there should be updates and your responses to the questions on the gender walk...identity walk
April 29 Tue. - Osama movie questions and Kite Runner due to us
April 30 Wed. - Privilege Walk - 1-11 Questions to complete and bring Thr.
May  01 Thr. - Day at Hartman Community Center - out of the building
    ***See us for a direction sheet.  Bring your completed Privilege Walk
       Questions with you to give us on this day

May  02 Fri. -  Community Service Sheet due for everybody next Tue. May 6
    ***If you are not exempt due to grades or you missed too many days, you need to complete an extra Community Service,,,this weekend is a good time.
May  05 Mon. - Begin watching Malcolm X - Questions to go along with this movie
    ***If you are out any this week, you will have to pick-up where we are
May  06 Tue. - Community Service sheet due - you should give it to us early if you are out of the building - Continue Malcolm X - questions are due at the end of the movie
May  07-May 9 - Finish Malcolm X (Wed-Fri)
May  12 Mon. - Final Community Service due - Exam - if you do not get this to us and you are not exempt, report for the 6th period exam day for seniors
        Class:  either finish Malcolm X if necessary or begin discussion of the movie; have your questions on Malcolm X completed
May 13 Tue. - Finish discussion of Malcolm X

World Studies - Weekly, students have an editing assignment and a vocabulary assignment - Students have a semester schedule for vocabulary due dates.  Editing is due at the end of each week.

Final Plans for World Studies - please note that  final presentations begin Wed. May 7 and exam community service projects are due Wed. May 14

Tue. Apr 29 – Vocabulary Test, select groups for final presentation, Cry Freedom, work on questions that go with the movie, Presentation Test tomorrow, final extra credit review for this test

Wed. Apr 30 – Presentation Test, Cry Freedom, Library for groups (2nd/5th)

Thr. May 01 – Finish Cry Freedom, finish questions for the movie, Editing Test if time (2nd/5th)

Fri. May 02 – Discuss Cry Freedom, Library Day for groups(2nd/5th)

Mon. May 05 – Gateway Practice Test (1st/4th) and Editing Test (2nd/5th), Homework 1-10 on labels on the Facing History sheet

Tue. May 06 – Discuss 1-10 on labels, Homework-answer journal questions on labels, Library (2nd/5th) – Presentations begin tomorrow, first five groups be ready, get hand-outs to us before school

Wed. May 07 – Presentation the entire day, Homework – 1-10 on groups from Facing History sheet.

Thr. May 08 – Discuss 1-10 on groups, Presentations cont. Homework-journal questions on groups

Fri. May 09 – Bring in journals today or Monday, Devil Came on Horseback (movie)

Mon. May 12- Journals due, finish movie, Presentations continue/finish – tomorrow too, Begin Hotel Rwanda, complete questions with movie

Wed. May 14 – Exam Community Service Project due, write exam essay, begin or continue Hotel Rwanda, complete questions with the movie

Thr. May 15 – Any Community Service presentations, finish Hotel Rwanda, finish your movie questions, be ready for discussion or quiz on movie

Fri. May 16 – Discussion and quiz on Hotel Rwanda (1st/4th), Shhh…(2nd/5th)

***Special note – For next week’s exam/class schedule, there is not a need for you to report to class (World Studies periods 1-2, 4-5) if all exam requirements have been met: Gateway Test, Exam Community Service Project, Exam Essay. However, if you are in the building during any of our class periods, you must report to Mrs. Broyles’ room.
