Balanced Man Scholarship
The Tennessee Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity will be 3-5 scholarships with the overall winner receiving $750. The goal of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity is to find Balanced Men who excel in Scholarship, Athleticism, Leadership, and Gentlemanliness. This scholarship is for men who be in-coming freshman at the University of Memphis, and who exemplify these characteristics.
Applications must be returned by May 20, 2008 in order to be considered for the scholarship.

Belmont University Commercial Music Scholarship
The commercial Music Department of the School of Music at Belmont University exists to educate and train people who work to perform, compose/arrange, produce, and sell Nashville’s signature product. This Scholarship was established by LifeWorks Foundation to permanently endow one or more scholarships for high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors accepted to/or attending Belmont University as a commercial music major.
B.J. Dean Scholarship
B.J. Dean was keenly interested in advancing the cause of women in the ministry. B.J. touched thousands of lives in her service to persons in churches and Baptist state conventions throughout the United States as consultant, teacher, writer, chorister, and minister. The intention of this scholarship fund is to permanently endow one or more interdenominational scholarships for women entering the ministry. Eligible applicants should be a woman preparing for full-time ministry, but is not limited to those seeking ordination or serving in any particular denomination. Applicants must be a resident of the State of Tennessee or Texas or be a student attending Yale Divinity School.
Brandywine Woman’s Club Scholarships
This scholarship is worth $1,200 and is awarded to two graduating seniors who are presently living in the 37138 (Old Hickory) or 37076 (Hermitage) zip code. Other requirements include high school transcript, student biography, essay about career goals/ why you should be awarded, two letters or recommendation, and an EFC document from FAFSA. The Bronfman Youth Fellowship in Israel
Bronfman Youth Fellowship in Israel is a fully endowed fellowship that is among the most prestigious programs available to outstanding Jewish students of all backgrounds who are in their junior year of high school. Any applicant whose date of birth is on or after June 30, 1991, is required to wait one year and apply for the 2008 program, even if they will have completed high school by the time the 2008 program begins.
Cappex Scholarships
Cappex is a free service that tells students which colleges are interested in them before they apply. It helps to set realistic expectations, and also broadens students’ awareness of college opportunities. Choose Your Future Scholarship
The donor believes passionately in the value of education for a life of choice and opportunity, and that no one should be denied the opportunity to fulfill his/her potential due to financial constraints. As a native Nashvillian, the donor wishes to give back to the community by helping more students of Davidson County achieve their educational goals. Eligibility for this award includes graduates of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools of Davidson County with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a score of 21 on the ACT. This scholarship can be used for any college or university in the United States and priority is given to students who are the first in their family to go to college. If the student remains in good academic standings, this award may be renewable.
CIC Foundation, Inc.
The CIC Foundation was created in 2004 in order to grant college scholarships to students pursuing degrees that will prepare them for jobs within the credit industry or closely related financial services industry. The scholarships are only available to Middle Tennessee and South Central Kentucky area residents. However, recipients may attend an accredited college outside these areas. Harold Conner Scholarship
The Harold Conner Scholarship is available for Tennessee high school graduates who attend the University of Tennessee at Martin. Students must have a minimum ACT of 21 and a minimum incoming GPA of 3.25. Once selected, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA at UT Martin to be eligible for subsequent awards. Students with financial need, students from under-represented populations and first-generation college students will be given special consideration from the scholarship selection committee. DBI Scholarship
“Aim as high as you can when considering a college or university to attend,” David Ingram, the donor for the DBI Scholarship, encourages applicants. “One of my main objectives would be to help a student that got into Harvard, Duke or Vanderbilt, be able to go to one of those schools instead of opting for a less expensive university because that is what the family can afford.” With that goal in mind, this exciting scholarship was set up to benefit children of the employees of Ingram Entertainment Inc. and DBI Distributing Inc. who have worked there for at least two years. Eligible applicants must attend a college, university or junior collge/technical school on a full time basis while maintaining a B average or better. The award would be used to offset tuition, room and board, and/or books and supplies depending on the student’s choice of school. Applicants can also be graduating high school seniors. All applicants are encouraged to aim high when selecting a school to attend.
DECA Entrepreneurship Scholarship
DECA, through a collaborative effort with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, has launched a new project designed to connect high school students to college entrepreneurship programs and to increase the number of students pursuing entrepreneurship education beyond high school. The first phase of the project included the development of a Web site, www.entrepreneurU.org. This Wed site provides students, parents and school personnel with a searchable database of college entrepreneurship programs. We hope this site will bridge the gap between high school students interested in becoming entrepreneurs and post-secondary institutions that have viable entrepreneurship education options. In addition, the Web site features resources, student resources and scholarship opportunities. Emmett H. Turner Scholarship
Emmett H. Turner ably served Davidson County as police chief from 1996 until 2003 and was a 34-year-veteran of the police force. Upon his retirement, friends and admirers wanted to do something meaningful to show him their appreciation for his hard work. A scholarship was created in Emmett’s name at The Community Foundation to benefit students who attend Tennessee State University’s Criminal Justice program. It is fitting that from now on, with the aid of Emmett H. Turner Scholarship, TSU will be graduating students who will follow in Emmett’s footsteps of public service, making life safer for our citizens. Genesco Scholarship
The Genesco scholarship was created to commemorate the Company’s 75th anniversary and honor its employees. George Oliver Benton Memorial Scholarship
Known as the “Lobbyists’ Lobbyist”, George Oliver Benton served as the President of the Tennessee Lobbyists Association from its founding in 1996 until his death in the fall of 2001. A former State Senator and Lieutenant Governor, George Oliver was often sought by state leaders for his opinions and legal advice on government in general and the legislature in particular. We are thankful for what George Oliver did for us as a profession and we honor George Oliver with this scholarship in his name. This scholarship is designed to benefit Legislative Interns. Scholarships will be awarded to students who attend an accredited four-year college/university in the State of Tennessee and/or are residents of Tennessee. Consideration will be given to extracurricular activities, especially those indicative of an interest in government.

Tuition Assistance for Low Income Families
Harvard University announced over the weekend that from now on
undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In
making the announcement, Harvard's president Lawrence H. Summers said, "When only 10 percent of the students in Elite higher education come
from families in lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing
enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to
the lower half of the income distribution."
If you know of a family earning less than $ 60,000 a year with an honor
student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to
pay the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from
now on undergraduate students from low-income families can go to Harvard
for free...no tuition and no student loans!

The John T. Bragg, Sr. Scholarship
This Scholarship is awarded each year to a select number of incoming freshmen to Middle Tennessee State University, and is reserved for students who have overcome personal obstacles in completing secondary education.

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Scholarship
The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity is presenting one $500 scholarship to a deserving gentleman to further his education. To be eligible for this scholarship the recipient must be male, college-bound, 3.0 GPA or above, African-American, have two letters of recommendation, in good standing with his school, display good citizenship, and present a one page essay. John Reily Knox Scholarship

Leigh Carter Scholarship
This memorial scholarship, established by the Tennessee Chiropractic Association honors Leigh and her passion for learning. The Leigh Carter Scholarship will provide financial support to students who wish to attend Chiropractic College upon completion of their undergraduate degree programs. Those eligible for this scholarship must be a full-time student attending an accredited Chiropractic college or university. Priority will be given to students from Tennessee and recipients are eligible to reapply throughout the four-year process. The applicant must also demonstrate a strong interest in health care delivery. Financial need, extracurricular and civic participation will also be considered in candidate evaluation.
Angela Healey McCormick Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is to honor Angela’s twenty years of experience in the educational systems of Davidson and Williamson counties. The award will be granted to students living in Davidson or Williamson who are majoring in education with the academic standings of at least a 19 on the ACT or a minimum of a 910 on the SAT. Students must also have a minimum of a 2.75 cumulative grade point average and must maintain a collegiate cumulative grade point average of a 2.75 on a 4.0 scale to continue to be eligible for the award. This award will also be based on a need basis to a full or part time student taking a minimum of 6 hours per semester. Prospective recipients must apply for federal and state financial aid programs by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. All federal and state programs (i. e. This scholarship is available to globally-minded high school seniors in Tennessee. $2,500 will be awarded to four students who plan to enroll in a four-year public college or university within the State of Tennessee’s Board of Regents or University of Tennessee Systems. National Merit Achievement Scholarship
State Farm Companies Foundation annually sponsors twenty African-American high school seniors selected by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation based on PSAT/NMSQT scores, academic distinction, personal achievement, and leadership abilities. These $2,500 scholarships are one-time and nonrenewable, and are awarded toward full-time study at an accredited U.S. college or university.
National Youth Leadership Forum on Law
The National Youth Leadership Forum is searching for the most prestigious students interested in Law. They are hosting a Forum in Washington, D.C. about the government and all the different types of law. The cost is $1,340 which includes accommodations, breakfasts and dinners, instructional and supervisory personnel, program materials, all Forum activities, and local transportation during the Forum.

Pearl High School Heritage Classes Foundation, Inc. Scholarship
This scholarship awards $1,000 grants to deserving high school seniors who are descendants of Pearl High School alumni and students planning to attend a historic black college or university. The scholarship is renewable for three years following the original award.
Requirements:
- Have a GPA of at least 2.5
- Complete an application form due April 23, 2008
- Essay with two pages of biographical information which includes post-secondary goals (no more than 350 words)
- Submit a non-returnable recent photo

The Road Sweepstakes
Fifth Third Bank will be awarding ten $530 scholarships to graduating members of the Class of 2008. Students must plan on attending any college or university this upcoming academic year. Scarlett Family Foundation Scholarship

The Siemens Foundation is awarding students who excel in Advanced Placement math and science courses. One male and female of each state will be awarded, and two national winners in the male and female categories will receive a $5,000 scholarship.

Stokes Educational Scholarship Program
The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program, provided by the National Security Agency, offers scholarships to high school seniors, particularly minority students, who are planning on majoring in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering. With the program, students will attend college full time, and then work during the summer at the NSA for 12 weeks in areas related to their course of study. Then, after graduation, a job will be waiting for them at the NSA. The Stokes Program will pay for tuition and mandatory fees at the college of your choice, reimbursement for textbooks, housing and travel entitlements during summer employment (if the distance between the NSA and the school exceeds 75 miles), provide a year-round salary while attending college, and offer continued employment with the NSA after graduation.
To be eligible for all of this, you must:
- Be a US Citizen
- Be a high school senior at the time of application, you must achieve a minimum SAT/ College Board score of 1600 (1100 Critical Reading and Math, 500 Writing), or ACT of 25
- Have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Demonstrate leadership abilities

Student Education Loan
Sometimes parents and children don’t see eye-to-eye. And, sometimes, they need time and space to bridge a gap that has developed between them. In some ways, the Student Education Loan Fund (SELF) is designed to do just that; buy students and parents a chance to work things out between them. The SELF scholarship seeks to provide emergency educational loans to young men or women whose parents have discontinued financial support for their education because they are gay or lesbian. To be eligible you must be a young man or woman whose parents have discontinued financial support for their education because they are gay or lesbian. The loans are awarded to the recipient and a co-signing adult and come with the personal responsibility of prompt repayment within two years. The co-signer should agree to pay the interest on the loan and serve as a mentor for the student.
SunTrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes
High school seniors can enter to win a $1,000 scholarship plus a $100 SunTrust Visa gift card. $1,000 goes to the student’s first year expenses at an accredited college or private career school. One winner will be chosen every two weeks from October 31, 2007 through May 15, 2008. Students can begin registering September 14, 2007 and the first drawing will be held on October 31, 2007. Only one entry per person for each drawing, however students can register after each drawing for the next scheduled drawing.

Teddy Wilburn Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to benefit students at Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have at least a B average overall during the last two years of high school and have, for the majority of their career attended high school within the 40 counties of Middle Tennessee.
Tennessee State United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) Community Action Program (CAP) Council
The U.A.W. and the Tennessee State UAW CAP Council offers competitive one-year scholarships to four graduating seniors.

Tennessee Trucking Association Scholarship
Through the members of the Tennessee Trucking Association, the Tennessee Trucking Foundation (TTF) has made significant contributions to the community in an effort to increase public awareness of highway safety. Additionally the TTF has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to children’s charities in an effort to improve the lives of sick children and their families. The TTF believes that the children of Tennessee are the future of both this state and our nation. As an extension of their efforts, the TTF Board of Directors has created a scholarship for dependent children, spouses, or employees of organizations who are members in a good standing of the Tennessee Trucking Association. It is their belief this natural extension will chart a course of success for the future of Tennessee while continuing to assist those in need. To be eligible you must be a Tennessee resident who is a dependent child, spouse, or an employee of organizations who are members in good standing of the Tennessee Trucking Association. Applicants must be entering their junior or senior years at accredited colleges or universities located in the State of Tennessee.
Turner Family Scholarship
Dollar General Founder Cal Turner announced plans to establish the Turner Family Scholarship during Dollar General’s 60th Anniversary celebration in October 1999. This scholarship will offer financial assistance to Dollar General Employees who have on year of service and seek personal development opportunities through education. Applications to GED and Adult Basic Education coursework, vocational or technical school, junior college, college, or university will be given preference. To be eligible applicants must be full-time or part-time employees of Dollar General with one year of service to the company. Eligible applicants may choose any area of study; coursework does not have to be related to the person’s job. Employees may enroll in GED or Adult Basic Education courses, classes at a community college or vocational school, or attend four-year college or university. These choices will reflect the personal development goals of the applicants.
Uplift Scholarship Fund
The Uplift Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide scholarships to students who may not meet traditional scholarships. Its goal is to assist and accommodate those who are ambitious and self motivated in spite of their circumstances. Students attending any accredited institution are eligible to apply. The scholarship amount ranges from $250 to $4,000, and all finalists will be interviewed.
Requirements:
- Minimum Core GPA of 2.5
- Two recommendations
- Essay (250 words) on “Why Education is Important to Me” or “How I Will Use my Education to Benefit Others”

The Varney Foundation
In conjunction with UCLA College of Letters and Science, a fourth Jim Varney Scholarship will be available for high school seniors in Tennessee and Kentucky who meet the eligibility requirements. This full scholarship will be a tremendous opportunity for another eligible student to realize a dream. Need a 3.75 cumulative GPA, be a high school graduate, and apply to UCLA, scholarship will be based on financial merit.
Woman’s Club of Nashville Scholarship
Eligible applicants should be women residing in Davidson County, Tennessee. Students should be graduating high school seniors or high school graduates with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Recipients are eligible to reapply each and ever year up to three consecutive years of post-secondary education. Reapplying applicants will be given every consideration for renewal of the scholarship, but not guaranteed unless all the original qualifications are met.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Rho Alpha Zeta Chapter will be awarding a deserving young lady a $500 scholarship to help further her education. To qualify for the Zeta scholarship you must be female, a college bound senior, have a GPA of 2.8 or above, be African-American, have two letters of recommendations one from school guidance counselor OR administration, in good standing at school, display good citizenship at home, school and in the community, be a Davidson county resident, and present a one page essay.
