Mission Statement
The mission of the MLK math department is to develop within students high-level thinking skills that will allow them to be successful in problem-solving. Since our subject is such a cumulative one, we work hard as a department to make sure students understand concepts as they are presented. Each of our courses builds the foundation for the next one;
therefore, all teachers play a role in insuring math success for all
students. Galileo said that "mathematics is the alphabet with which the universe was created."
Since problem-solving and logical reasoning manifest themselves throughout every discipline, we enjoy "helping students unlock the secrets of the universe" through mathematics.
