Transportation

The Metro Public Schools do not provide school buses to or froPhoto_of_Student_Working_on_Computrem school. However, many students ride the MTA buses. At the school, MTA buses pick up and drop off students at the corner of 17th and Jo Johnston.

After school, students will board MTA buses that will take them to a central transfer station downtown. There, they will transfer to another bus that will take them to the area of town in which they live. They will get off at a regular MTA bus stop at or near their home, at which point they walk. In the mornings, this process is reversed.

There will be MTA representatives in the school during the August orientation to explain the process and sell tickets or passes. Information on routes for 2004-2005 will be available from them or by calling 862-5950. Further information can be had from www.nashvillemta.org. You can also download a PDF brochure with specific routes for MLK. Students eligible for free and reduced lunch can receive bus passes and should see the guidance office.

What about carpools?

Many families choose to carpool. Zip code lists are provided by the office and in the directory to help in setting up carpools. Lists will also be available during orientation.
